What
Exactly is Chair Massage?
Chair Massage is basic Swedish (relaxation) massage techniques
performed while the client is seated in a specially designed
massage chair. The client sits on the chair, which leans
slightly forward, placing their face/head on a rounded
"face cradle" and their arms on a padded arm rest.
The chair allows the client to fully relax so the
massage therapist can work on the back, neck and shoulders, as
well as arms and hands during the massage session.
Will I Need To Remove
Any Clothing for a Chair Massage?
There is no need to remove any clothing, except possibly jackets
or very bulky sweaters. Typically no lotion or oil is used
during the massage session, so there is no "clean up"
or sticky feel afterwards. Sometimes a little lotion will
be used on the forearms and hands to assist with the massage
strokes. For those that have never experienced massage of
any type, chair massage is the perfect
"introduction"---a short massage session, with no
uncomfortable feelings from removing clothing, yet immediate
benefits of relaxation and muscle tension release.
How Long Does a Chair
Massage Last?
A typical chair massage lasts 15 - 20 minutes.
Surprisingly, even though the time frame isn't very long,
remarkable results can be obtained during the massage.
Clients with tightness in their neck and shoulders, headache,
and backache are often relieved of this discomfort after a chair
massage session. They report feeling refreshed and
relaxed, ready to get back to work.
Can A Massage Be
Longer Than Just 15 Minutes?
A definite YES!! Depending on the arrangement for chair
massage at a workplace, clients can often sign up for
back-to-back sessions of chair massage. This would allow
them to have approximately 30 minutes on the chair instead of
the basic 15 minutes. A variety of plans are available for
a workplace to consider when scheduling a chair massage session,
and we will tailor your program to what suits your workplace
best.
How Does Payment Work?
There are two types of payment arrangements we use for
chair massage: A per-person amount ($15), and an hourly
amount ($45 per therapist). The number of people that
will be participating, and the time frame we have to work
within, are factors we use to determine how to charge. If
an employer wants to "treat" all the employees to
their chair massages, we will charge a $45/hour/therapist
amount. This allows the employer to determine the length
of the massage sessions, and how long we are to be on location
to give the massages. If the employees will be paying for
their own massages, we charge the $15 rate per person. The
massage session will last the standard 15 minutes, with possible
options to sign up for additional time slots.
Where Do You Perform
The Chair Massages?
Anywhere!! We require a minimal amount of
space---basically enough room for a chair (or 2 or 3) and the
therapists to move around them. We often work in break
rooms, conference rooms, book rooms, office areas. We will
set up wherever an employer wants us to---out of the main flow
of traffic and easy for employees to find. We often
bring a CD player with relaxing music, so an area with electric
outlets is helpful, but not necessary.
Do You Offer Other
Massage Services?
Absolutely!! Just click on the "Services Offered" link
to see a full description of massage services offered at our
offices.
How Often Can Chair
Massages Be Scheduled?
As often as an employer would like to offer the service.
We are flexible, and require only a couple of weeks notice to
schedule a visit to any workplace. Sometimes, if a group
is small, we can schedule within a few days of being contacted.
Some groups schedule with us monthly, some schedule quarterly,
others schedule for "special occasions"---treating
their employees after a particular project is completed or as a
holiday "gift". Any arrangement is
workable---just ask and give us your ideas!
